Thuja occidentalis Degroot's Spire, or Cedar Bush, is an evergreen conifer popular as a hedge plant or ornamental plant. It is native to North America, specifically eastern and central Canada and the United States. Degroot's Spire was developed by Canadian horticulturist Adrian De Groot and was introduced into the horticultural trade in the 1960s.

This Thuja has a narrow conical shape, grows slowly and can reach 6 metres in height. The leaves are dark green in colour and have a velvety texture. It is a versatile plant, easy to care for and very hardy, ideal for creating hedges, using as a landscaping element or as a shade plant.

Luminosity

This plant prefers environments with lots of light or direct sunlight.

Watering

Keep the soil moist but well-drained. Water when it starts to dry out on the surface.

Toxicity

This plant, when ingested, can be toxic to pets and humans. Keep out of reach of children.

Cutting the tips of the branches will encourage lateral growth and give the plant a more compact shape, making the hedges denser.
