About Drosera | Sun Dew

Native to South Africa, Drosera capensis Alba belongs to a group of carnivorous plants commonly known as sundews. Its long leaves are covered with tiny tentacles that produce sticky, glistening droplets capable of trapping small insects.

When an insect becomes stuck, the leaf slowly curls around the prey, allowing the plant to absorb the nutrients it needs to grow. This natural behaviour makes the Drosera one of the most interesting carnivorous plants to observe.

The Alba variety stands out for its delicate appearance, featuring light green leaves and elegant white flowers that appear on slender stems during the growing season.

Carnivorous plants generally grow best outdoors where they receive plenty of natural light and conditions closer to their natural habitat. However, they can also be kept indoors if placed next to a very bright window.
