The Blue Torch cactus is native to Brazil. It can reach a height of between 1 and 10 meters, depending on the sun exposure and the soil where it is planted. In the upper area, it gains small tufts of "hair" from which small white flowers emerge. These flowers open during the summer nights.

Like other cacti, the Blue Torch cactus loves direct sunlight. Direct sunlight and a dry environment are all it needs to flower and bear fruit. However, as it is a very hardy cactus, it also adapts to environments with some shade.

This plant prefers environments with lots of light or direct sunlight.
