Rhododendron Cosmopolitan

Native to temperate regions of Asia, Europe and North America, Rhododendron belongs to the Ericaceae family, along with Pieris and azaleas. The 'Cosmopolitan' variety is particularly valued for its balanced growth and its ability to withstand cold weather.

During spring, the plant bursts with pink flowers, arranged in large clusters that create a lush and sophisticated effect. The dense, glossy, dark green foliage remains throughout the year, providing visual interest even outside the flowering season.

This plant prefers filtered sun or partial shade, as intense sunlight can damage the leaves and affect flowering. The soil should be acidic, rich in organic matter and well-drained, making it ideal for naturalistic or classically inspired gardens. Watering should be regular, keeping the soil moist without waterlogging, especially in the warmer months.

With moderate growth, it can reach between 1.5 and 2 meters in height and width, making it an excellent shrub for group compositions or as a focal point in a garden. It can also be grown in large pots, as long as the substrate is suitable for acidophilic plants. Pruning is not essential, but can be done after flowering to remove dried flowers and maintain a compact shape.
