For indoor use, it is advisable to use a saucer suitable for the Madagascar pot to prevent excess water from passing onto other surfaces. For outdoor use, it is advisable, at least during the rainy months, to use the Madagascar pot without the round saucer. Rainwater can soak the substrate and, as a result, the roots of most plants will rot.
