Red Bromeliad

Few plants are as brightly colored and easy to care for as Guzmania amoretto.
Commonly known as the red bromeliad, as it is part of the bromeliad family, this plant is native to the forests of South America and is an epiphyte, meaning it grows attached to tree trunks. More than 120 different species of bromeliad have been recorded in these forests. This species has red bracts and thin, dark green leaves. The bracts grow from the center of the plant and can be of various colors. Their shape makes them form a water reservoir, collecting decomposing leaves and other particles for nutrition.

Indoors, this Bromeliad likes a location with plenty of natural light, but without direct sunlight. It is a very hardy plant and safe for pets.
