About Bonsai Ficus Ginseng S

The name of the Ficus ginseng bonsai has nothing to do with tea, but rather with the characteristics of the plant. In China, it is common to use thick roots to make tea, Ginseng. Since Ficus microcarpa has the ability to quickly develop its aerial roots, it began to be cultivated as a bonsai. Ficus ginseng was the name chosen by the Chinese to nickname it. The Ficus ginseng bonsai quickly spread throughout the world as an indoor plant.

The Ficus microcarpa species originates from Chinese forests and has been cultivated by bonsai growers for many years. Typically, Ficus ginseng bonsai trees are grown in China for the first few years of root development and then sent to Dutch greenhouses to develop their glossy green leaves. They arrive at our homes looking healthy and, with a little care, can be maintained for many years.

Proper watering is the key to keeping a bonsai in perfect condition. The top layer of soil should dry out slightly between waterings. In summer, be more careful not to let it dry out, and in winter, water only when necessary.

Fertilization should be done from spring to mid-autumn, using Bonsai substrate. Fertilization should be stopped during extremely hot periods in summer.

Pruning should be done in early spring. Maintenance pruning should be done during the growing season to control its shape. Ideal season for repotting Early spring. It should be repotted every 3 years.
