Your plant has just arrived. What's next?

The box that arrives home contains your new plant and a set of questions. “Should I put it in another pot?”, “Should I water it now?”, “It looks a bit different, is that normal?”.

Pause! Just like us, plants need time to adapt to a new environment, a new routine. This guide will help you take the right first steps.

The adaptation period is essential

Your plant has just undergone a change of environment, transport, variations in light, temperature, and humidity. Even if it arrives healthy, the plant's body feels all these changes. In the first few days, the most important thing is not to make too many changes!

WHAT NOT TO DO IN THE EARLY DAYS

  • Repot

Repotting too early can damage the roots, hinder adaptation, and increase leaf drop. In most cases, a new pot is not necessary during the first few months.

  • Overwatering

This is one of the most common mistakes. Watering too early can lead to root rot, the appearance of fungi, and yellowing leaves. Before watering, always check the plant's needs and the moisture of the substrate.

  • To move places

Light, temperature, and air currents make all the difference. Frequently moving the plant delays adaptation and causes unnecessary stress. Choose a suitable spot and keep it stable.

We want to reassure you!

Not everything that looks like a problem is necessarily a problem. It is perfectly normal for some leaves to fall, for the plant to lose some vigour, or for growth to slow down for a period. It's all part of adapting to the new environment.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO IN THE FIRST FEW DAYS

  • Choosing the right location

Place the plant in a location with adequate natural light for the species, avoiding drafts and extreme heat or cold sources. If you are unsure about the light requirements, check the information available in our store or speak to us!

  • Water only as needed

If the substrate is dry, you can water. If it is still damp, wait and re-evaluate before watering again. The most important thing is to adapt your watering to each plant and to your home's conditions.

  • Give it time and observe.

This is the most important care. Observe the leaves, their colour and firmness, and the plant's growth. These signs communicate its needs! The secret really lies in observation.
